At Camp La Junta, it’s all about boys: Boys having fun. Boys trying new things. Boys learning about life. Boys learning about themselves.
The CLJ Experience is a time tested, successful formula which blends years of old-fashioned activities with the most current fun and games – modern facilities with a rustic atmosphere. For over 90 years Camp La Junta has provided campers with a FUN summer experience as well as a positive, confidence-building, life experience.
CLJ sits nestled between a mile of the crystal clear, cypress-shaded Guadalupe River and the beautiful hills of the Texas Hill Country. The amazing facilities and inviting riverfront truly to make it a boy’s “happiest place on Earth!”
It Is our philosophy that a young man should be encouraged to make the most of his mental and physical capabilities, thereby increasing his self-confidence and self- image. Accordingly, our activities and programs are designed to instill a strong sense of independence and self-assuredness in our campers.
We set summer goals for our campers to build character, a sense of service, new life skills and an appreciation of the outdoors. Camp La Junta believes that every child is unique and benefits from a broad range of experiences in a positive environment, as well as a strong connection with nature.
Each camper has a tailor-made schedule to focus on his own personal interests. Boys are given the opportunity to choose his own schedule, try new experiences, strengthen interests, embrace independence and develop life skills to grow into a more self-assured young man.
CLJ has carefully curated activities to provide new and memorable experiences and compliment the spirit of our philosophy. Some of our most popular classes include horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, water games, SCUBA, adventure sports, riflery, archery, camp crafts, athletics, tennis, and sailing.
Partnership with parents is paramount at Camp La Junta. We take pride in providing a system of parent communication that keeps you fully informed and confident about your son’s camp experience. Daily newsletters, photos, a secure parent portal, video highlight films, Camp Director reports, and a written note from your son’s counselors help us accomplish this. We know you can’t be here with us, but we want you to know how much fun we’re having.
